Exceptional performance of Stravinsky's Histoire du Soldat.
The Les Arpents chamber orchestra presents a show for all ages, from 10 upwards, in which music and theatre intermingle. Joseph, a soldier, offers his soul to the devil by selling him his violin. What follows is a series of adventures and wild dances to find his soul. The story is multi-layered, and everyone comes away from this fable of greed grown up and amused. The scathing music and language of Stravinsky and Ramuz accompany this fable inspired by a Russian tale from the Faust myth. The magic of this show is served by an excellent orchestra of top-flight soloists. It's a chance to laugh and be moved at the expense of Joseph, the main character played by Arthus Penquer, a young actor whom the audience of the Orchestre Pasteur discovered in the show Carmen performed last January in Damparis. An introductory session will be organised to meet the artistic team on Friday 10 July at 10am at the Maison de la Musique in Tavaux.
